8 Day Longreach, Winton & Outback Opera Tour
A premium event tour combining Longreach and Winton's leading attractions with selected Festival of Outback Opera performances — world-class singing beneath the extraordinary outback sky. Travelling by luxury coach through Roma and the Darling Downs, then flying home from Longreach, this eight-day journey is one of Queensland's great touring experiences, combining pioneering heritage, dinosaur country, river sunsets and unforgettable live music in one of Australia's most remote and dramatic settings.
Day by Day Itinerary
Day 1 – Brisbane to Roma
Depart Brisbane by luxury coach, travelling through the Darling Downs to Roma — the Gateway to the Outback. Welcome dinner and overnight stay in Roma.
Day 2 – Roma to Longreach
Continue west through the changing outback landscape with regional stops and commentary on the remarkable country and communities along the way. Arriving in Longreach as the afternoon light transforms the red earth.
Day 3 – Qantas and Stockman's Heritage
Explore two of Longreach's most celebrated attractions — the Qantas Founders Museum, where Australia's national airline was born on the outback plains, and the Australian Stockman's Hall of Fame, a moving tribute to the men and women who built outback Australia. Timing is arranged around confirmed Festival of Outback Opera performances.
Day 4 – Winton and Australian Age of Dinosaurs
A full day excursion to Winton, including the world-class Australian Age of Dinosaurs museum perched dramatically above the mesa country, and the revamped Waltzing Matilda Centre celebrating Australia's unofficial anthem. An evening festival event is attended where scheduled.
Day 5 – Outback Opera Feature Day
The centrepiece of the tour. Selected recital, open-air concert or festival dining events from the Festival of Outback Opera program, with free time between performances to soak up the remarkable atmosphere of world-class music beneath the Queensland outback sky.
Day 6 – Station Country and River Sunset
A working station or pastoral experience provides genuine insight into outback life before we board the Thomson River sunset cruise — one of the Queensland outback's signature experiences — followed by a campfire dinner and entertainment under the stars.
Day 7 – Longreach Leisure and Farewell
A relaxed final day of local exploring, festival activities and shopping. The group gathers for a special farewell dinner — a celebration of an extraordinary week in Queensland's outback.
Day 8 – Fly to Brisbane
Transfer to Longreach Airport for the return flight to Brisbane, arriving home with extraordinary memories of outback Queensland's landscapes, heritage and world-class live music.
