3 Day King Island Gourmet & Nature Tour
King Island sits in the middle of Bass Strait — remote, wild, and entirely its own world. Famous for its world-class dairy, grass-fed beef and seafood, it's also home to some of Australia's most dramatic coastlines, towering lighthouses and wide-open farmland stretching to the Southern Ocean. This fully escorted three-day escape includes return flights from Melbourne, all accommodation, every meal, King Island Dairy tasting, distillery tour, lighthouse visits and a professional local guide — simply arrive at the airport and we handle the rest.
Day by Day Itinerary
Day 1 – Arrival, King Island Dairy & Currie
Fly from Melbourne to King Island on QantasLink, where your local guide meets you at the airport. Morning tea at King Island Bakehouse before a guided presentation and cheese tasting at the world-renowned King Island Dairy. Enjoy lunch at Wild Harvest Restaurant featuring grass-fed beef, local seafood and island wines, then explore the heritage buildings and historic fishing fleet of Currie township. The afternoon concludes at Currie Lighthouse, one of Australia's most picturesque. Dinner and overnight at your island accommodation.
Day 2 – Cape Wickham, Beaches & Distillery
Begin the day at Cape Wickham Lighthouse — Australia's tallest lighthouse and one of the world's great coastal views. Stop for coffee overlooking the renowned Cape Wickham Golf Links before visiting the towering white dunes of Martha Lavinia Beach and the hidden freshwater lagoon of Penny's Lagoon. A beach picnic or local café lunch follows, then a guided tasting at King Island Distillery sampling their hand-crafted gin, whisky and local spirits. Meet a local producer on an afternoon farm visit before sunset drinks and a cheese platter overlooking the Southern Ocean.
Day 3 – Grassy, Seal Rocks & Farewell
Explore Grassy township on the island's east coast — a historic mining settlement with its own unique character. Visit the Grassy Museum tracing tin mining history and the island's early settlers, then continue to Seal Rocks Lookout for wildlife viewing and the spectacular wild dunes of Disappointment Bay. A premium farewell lunch features King Island beef, local seafood and cheese. Time for a final shopping stop before your QantasLink flight returns you to Melbourne.
