Day by Day Itinerary
Day 1 – Journey to Cape Jervis & Kangaroo Island Ferry
Travel through South Australia to Cape Jervis on the tip of the Fleurieu Peninsula, where we board the Sealink ferry for the 45-minute crossing to Kangaroo Island. Arriving at Penneshaw, we begin exploring Australia's third-largest island — a haven for wildlife and natural beauty. This evening, settle into our island accommodation and enjoy a welcome dinner as we prepare for days of extraordinary experiences ahead.
Day 2 – Seal Bay & Flinders Chase National Park
Today we discover the natural wonders that make Kangaroo Island one of Australia's great wildlife destinations. Our morning begins with a guided beach walk at Seal Bay Conservation Park, where we walk among one of Australia's largest colonies of Australian Sea Lions in their natural habitat — an experience found nowhere else in the world. This afternoon we explore the dramatic western end of the island in Flinders Chase National Park, including the iconic Remarkable Rocks — enormous granite boulders sculpted by millions of years of wind and wave into extraordinary shapes — and the spectacular Admirals Arch, a natural rock arch home to a colony of New Zealand fur seals.
Day 3 – Island Wildlife & Local Produce
Spend another wonderful day on Kangaroo Island exploring its unique landscapes and local produce. We visit Raptor Domain for a captivating birds of prey demonstration, discover the island's famous eucalyptus oil and honey industries, and enjoy time in Kingscote — the island's main township — where local restaurants, galleries and shops line the scenic waterfront. Kangaroo Island is home to pure Ligurian bees, and local honey and produce make wonderful mementos of this special island.
Day 4 – Coorong National Park
We farewell Kangaroo Island this morning, boarding the Sealink ferry back to Cape Jervis before travelling east along the Fleurieu Peninsula. This afternoon we explore the remarkable Coorong National Park — a vast system of coastal lagoons, sand dunes and wetlands stretching along the South Australian coast, home to extraordinary birdlife including pelicans, terns and migratory waders from around the world. The sweeping scenery and rich biodiversity of the Coorong make it one of Australia's most significant natural environments.
Day 5 – Victor Harbor, Encounter Bay & Granite Island
Today we enjoy the beautiful coastline of Encounter Bay, visiting the charming seaside town of Victor Harbor. We cross the causeway to Granite Island by horse-drawn tram, taking in spectacular bay views before exploring this picturesque destination. We also visit Goolwa and the historic Murray Mouth, where Australia's greatest river system meets the Southern Ocean, before continuing to our overnight accommodation along the Riverland.
Day 6 – Murray River Dinner Cruise
A highlight of the tour, today we enjoy a memorable evening aboard a Murray River dinner cruise, drifting along the peaceful, tree-lined banks of one of Australia's most iconic rivers. Enjoy a delicious dinner on the water, accompanied by the sounds of the bush and reflections of the setting sun on the Murray's surface — a truly magical South Australian experience. We spend our final night in the Riverland region.
Day 7 – Journey Home
After breakfast we begin our journey home through South Australia and western Victoria. Sit back, relax and reflect on the extraordinary wildlife encounters, spectacular coastal scenery and wonderful natural beauty experienced throughout this remarkable South Australian adventure.
