Day by Day Itinerary
Day 1 – Journey to Griffith
Sit back and relax as we travel through regional New South Wales into the heart of the Riverina. Enjoy the changing rural scenery as we pass through charming country towns before arriving in Griffith, our home for the next four nights. This evening, settle into your accommodation and enjoy a welcome dinner with your fellow travellers as the Griffith Spring Festival gets underway.
Day 2 – Griffith Spring Festival & Citrus Sculptures
Today we immerse ourselves in the colour and creativity of the Griffith Spring Festival. The highlight is the spectacular Citrus Sculptures display — enormous, intricately crafted artworks built entirely from local citrus fruit and flowers by community groups and businesses. Wander through the festival grounds, enjoy the vibrant atmosphere and take in the remarkable artistry that makes this event so unique. We also enjoy a guided tour of Griffith, discovering the city's multicultural heritage, local history and distinctive Burley Griffin-influenced town planning.
Day 3 – Open Gardens & Pioneer Park Museum
This morning we visit some of the beautiful private open gardens that are a highlight of the Spring Festival — lovingly tended gardens that open their gates to visitors during the festival season, showcasing spectacular spring blooms, creative landscaping and a warm welcome from their owners. This afternoon we explore the fascinating Griffith Pioneer Park Museum, a remarkable open-air collection of historic buildings relocated from across the Riverina, bringing the region's pastoral and agricultural history to life.
Day 4 – Leeton Produce Experience & Whitton Cotton Gin
Today we venture into the surrounding Riverina countryside. Our morning takes us to Leeton, a charming town renowned for its Art Deco architecture and thriving irrigation-based agriculture. Enjoy a local produce experience highlighting the region's exceptional fruit, rice and food industries. This afternoon we travel to Whitton for a fascinating guided tour of the Southern Cotton Gin, where we learn about one of Australia's most important agricultural industries and watch raw cotton transformed into bales of fibre ready for processing.
Day 5 – Farewell the Riverina
After breakfast we farewell Griffith and begin our journey home through the beautiful Riverina countryside. Sit back, relax and reflect on the wonderful festival atmosphere, stunning seasonal gardens, fascinating local industries and warm country hospitality experienced throughout our time in the Riverina.
