11 Day Western Australia Coral Coast & Wildflower Tour
Discover the spectacular beauty of Western Australia's Coral Coast on this unforgettable eleven-day adventure — including return flights from Melbourne. From three nights in Perth and a day in Fremantle, to the extraordinary wildflower country of the mid-west and the dramatic gorges of Kalbarri National Park, this journey reaches its pinnacle at World Heritage-listed Shark Bay — where wild dolphins come to shore at Monkey Mia each morning. Travelling through the iconic Pinnacles Desert, this is a tour of sweeping coastal vistas, ancient landscapes and natural wonders found nowhere else on earth.
Day by Day Itinerary
Day 1 – Fly Melbourne to Perth
Today our Western Australian adventure begins as we fly from Melbourne to Perth. On arrival, we transfer to our Perth hotel where we will be based for the next three nights. This evening, enjoy a welcome dinner and take in the first impressions of Western Australia's vibrant capital city on the shores of the Swan River.
Day 2 – Perth City Sightseeing & Kings Park
Spend the day exploring the beautiful city of Perth, widely regarded as one of the most liveable cities in the world. Highlights include the magnificent Kings Park and Botanic Garden, perched above the Swan River with panoramic views across the city and the Darling Ranges. We also explore the cultural heart of the CBD, visit the Swan River foreshore and enjoy the relaxed, sun-drenched character that makes Perth so special.
Day 3 – Fremantle
Today we visit the historic port city of Fremantle, one of Australia's best-preserved Victorian-era ports and a city brimming with character, culture and maritime history. Explore the renowned Fremantle Markets, visit the imposing Fremantle Prison World Heritage site, discover the Western Australian Maritime Museum and enjoy lunch in one of Fremantle's famous cafés, restaurants or the vibrant Little Creatures Brewery precinct on the waterfront.
Day 4 – Pinnacles Desert & Nambung National Park
We depart Perth and head north along the Coral Coast, stopping at the extraordinary Pinnacles Desert within Nambung National Park. Thousands of ancient limestone pillars rise dramatically from the golden sand, creating one of Australia's most surreal and photographed landscapes. We take the scenic loop through the Pinnacles before continuing north through the coastal town of Cervantes to our overnight accommodation.
Day 5 – Wildflower Country
Western Australia is renowned for producing one of the greatest wildflower displays on earth, and today we travel through the heart of the mid-west wildflower country. During wildflower season, the roadsides and open heathlands burst into extraordinary colour — everlastings, banksias, grevilleas, wattles and hundreds of other species create a spectacular natural tapestry. We stop at key wildflower viewing areas and enjoy the breathtaking seasonal display as we travel further north.
Day 6 – Kalbarri National Park
Today we explore the spectacular Kalbarri National Park, one of Western Australia's most dramatic natural attractions. The park features stunning coastal cliffs, towering river gorges carved through ancient red sandstone, and breathtaking lookouts including Nature's Window and the Loop. We take in the dramatic Murchison River gorges from above before visiting the Kalbarri Skywalk — a pair of cantilevered platforms extending over the gorge edge, offering heart-stopping views across the landscape.
Day 7 – Journey to Shark Bay
We continue our journey north through the remote and beautiful landscapes of Western Australia's mid-west coast to the World Heritage-listed Shark Bay region. This extraordinary area — one of only a handful of places in the world to meet all four UNESCO natural criteria — is home to the world's largest seagrass beds, remarkable stromatolites (ancient living rocks), abundant marine life and, most famously, the wild dolphins of Monkey Mia. We settle in at Denham, the most westerly town in Australia, in anticipation of tomorrow's magical experience.
Day 8 – Monkey Mia & Shell Beach
The highlight of the tour. Each morning, a group of wild Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphins swim into the shallows at Monkey Mia and interact with rangers and visitors on the beach — one of the world's most extraordinary wildlife encounters. We spend the morning at Monkey Mia before exploring more of Shark Bay, including the remarkable Shell Beach — a beach composed entirely of billions of tiny cockle shells stretching for kilometres along the bay — and the ancient living stromatolites at Hamelin Pool, some of the oldest living organisms on earth.
Day 9 – Coastal Return Journey
We begin our journey south along the Coral Coast, travelling through the spectacular mid-west landscape and stopping at viewpoints and coastal lookouts along the way. Enjoy the wide-open spaces, turquoise waters and rugged coastal beauty that make Western Australia's Coral Coast such a distinctive and memorable touring destination.
Day 10 – Swan Valley & Final Perth Evening
On our return to Perth, we travel through the beautiful Swan Valley — Western Australia's oldest wine region, just 30 minutes from the city. Stop for a cellar door tasting and explore the valley's galleries, artisan producers and charming country atmosphere before arriving back in Perth for our final evening. Enjoy a farewell dinner and reflect on an extraordinary Western Australian journey.
Day 11 – Fly Perth to Melbourne
After breakfast and a final morning in Perth, we transfer to the airport for our return flight to Melbourne, arriving home with wonderful memories of Western Australia's wildflowers, dramatic gorges, wild dolphins and spectacular Coral Coast.
